Want to know what inspiring leaders do from a person who partners with them to help deliver more interactive conferences and events, in a year than most of us attend in a career?
Axiom’s Michelle Nicholson shares her thoughts on what qualities make leaders shine brighter than a centre stage spotlight.
Demonstrate relatability
Great leaders acknowledge, thank and remember people from all levels of the business, who work tirelessly behind the scenes contributing significantly to the organisation’s success. They can connect with people and address colleagues in an emotionally intelligent way.
Champion honesty
Successful leaders cut through the noise to help others see the wood for the trees. They share a big picture and consistently drive it into everyday activity. They tell people how the business really is (within the bounds of corporate confidentiality) and promote psychological safe spaces for their people to express thoughts and ideas freely.
Promote teamwork and Inclusivity
Effective leaders promote ‘we’ not ‘me’. They champion diversity, equity and inclusion and bridge the gap between different people, perspectives and preferences. Their inclusiveness creates the space for everyone to flourish.
Embrace digital
It is essential that leaders understand the impact digital and AI are having today (on ways of working and decision making). They acknowledge and embrace the speed of technological change and anticipate likely future impacts (on jobs, skills and leadership).
